Every time my works in progress includes too many longer projects, I just stop crocheting or live gets in the way of my crocheting, but this time my excuse is that I had too many distractions during optimal daytime photo snapping time.
Here are a few of my current projects:
My Cousin’s Favorite Crochet Hat, a free pattern from Dreamweaver Yarns. Very quick, very warm hat. The brim will come in handy on our Christmas trip to Montana when my ears will be chilly. I used about 3/4 skein of Lion Brand Wool Ease Chunky in Black and an “M” crochet hook.

Next, I’m making a jewelry bowl for someone to be named later’s Christmas present, using a skein of recycled silk sari yarn. I’m using a solid square pattern and then removing the corner increases to make the bowl shape.

Finally, here’s my progress so far on my Monkey socks. It’s a wonderfully easy pattern, I just can’t find the time to work on it as much as I want to. It’s going to be my Montana project.

Good night! My fingers are freezing. That’s what I get for opening the windows to cool off the house during our Daisy/Brownie Girl Scout meeting. I’m off to watch the rest of the Cowboys/Packers game. Toodles!

Yes, yes, I know I promised pictures. I’ll try tomorrow. My photo taking location is currently crowded with library books and Girl Scout handbooks due to me trying to plan this week’s meeting. Enough excuses! The point of this post is to ask all of you a question…
Let’s say your name was Tiffany and you received a $50 American Express gift card for your birthday. You received other gift cards but spent that money at Crate & Barrel and Target, respectively, feeding your kitchen gear fetish. You want to (a) buy handmade/indie, (b) buy something involving yarn (not limited to just yarn per se, but the use, display, storage of said yarn as in, hooks, needles [remember earlier post regarding knitting - socks only for me], totes, pre-made, etc.), and (c) if it’s crochet, I’ve been searching for a challenge that doesn’t involve an overwhelming amount of yarn (only $50 to spend) and an overwhelming amount of time. What would you suggest? Please post ideas and a link if available. If I can’t resist what you suggest and are soon bragging about my birthday present, I promise to make you something handmade as a present. Disclaimer: To save myself from freaking out over a deadline to get something to you promptly, I most likely will start the handmade present after the holidays have passed and mailed off a few packages that need to be mailed off from the summer now that I’ve found my once-lost packed and moved box of said packages.
I’ve been browsing my rss feeds tonight, Ravelry, and Etsy looking for gifts and have come up blank. What I’m afraid of is heading off to Michael’s or Jo-Ann tomorrow and just spending without coming home with anything that I will actually love, enjoy and/or use. My other fear is hitting the Girl Scout Store and spending it on various things that I’ve been wanting to pick up for the girls, like the too cute Girl Scout Groovy Girls.
Quick side question - For those of you in Ravelry, how can this look like it has drape and no chunk (chunkiness? It’s late therefore I get to make up words), but be made with worsted weight yarn and a small hook? I’m still tempted to make it one day so it’s going in the queue.

I’m still alive. I took a part-time job, started volunteering at the girls’ school, volunteered to be their Girl Scout troop leader, and joined a local mom’s group since we’ve moved here to the DFW area. Needless to say, I’ve been a little preoccupied. I took a little mini-break from anything crafty while catching up on my neglected reading habit, but I’m making an effort to get back into crocheting and knitting socks. I’ve decided that I’m just going to be a sock knitter. There are too many beautiful tempting sock patterns out there and too many overall crochet patterns that catch my interest.
For my birthday (which is today, but I went shopping Friday), I visited my LYS for the first time and bought Amigurumi by Elisabeth Doherty along with a gorgeous Madelinetosh sock yarn. I’ll show it off with a photo tomorrow when I can take said photo in decent light. I also picked up a few beautiful plates at Crate & Barrel for food service (I want to practice “plating”.), and a set of doily dessert plates. I don’t know if I could take a photo to do the plates justice, but I may try.
For some reason, being 32 feels so much older than 31, but I can’t figure out why. I’ve just been feeling rather lost over the past few weeks. Hopefully, it will pass soon because I miss my happy self. I feel unaccomplished, which is silly because I have a beautiful family, but that feeling still exists.
Anyhoo, my birthday goal is to work on my writing, which means writing more on here, so hopefully, there will be a little bit more of a purpose here soon. Happy Veteran’s Day and have a wonderful week!
