Lots of photos today! Since I lack actual crochet photos most of the time, I probably should save a few for next time. Nah. I’ll forget that I have an uploaded surplus and one day when I go through cleaning out old photos I’ll find them and be pleasantly surprised, but I’ll most likely have no clue where they’re from or what they’re supposed to be.
1. I’ve joined the Sweet Pea CAL. I’ve only just started the second row. See?

I’m using Classic Elite Flash in Monterey Magenta. I made one for my mom two summers ago in Cactus Flower. This is going to be one of my projects that I take with my next week on my spring break getaway.
You can join up too over at Crochetville. Click on the pretty button made by Amie over at Nexstitch (the shawl’s by her too).
2. I’m slowly (I mean slowly) making progress on my crocheted table runner. My plan is to start recovering the chairs in a few weeks into a much more neutral color than it’s current Seventies orange tweed. If I do, I’ll be more inclined to finish this up so that I can have an especially pretty table. I’m going to need the matching placemats too if I switch back to using the bare wood. The girls are still messy at dinner time.

3. I have an inch to go (woohoo!) on my Chinese Charm bag from Debbie Stoller’s Stitch & Bitch. There’s some fabric shopping to be done next week. I’m using Patons SWS in Natural Plum. The color isn’t quite as pink as you see it here.

I’m now at 5 inches on my ribbed scarf. That means if I make 5 inches of progress every two days I’ll be finished with a nice 60 inch scarf in 30 stinking days! But, the colorway of this yarn is beautiful so it’s not destined for coin pursage… yet. What type of yarn is it? It’s 100% wool from….. (had to do a Yarndex search since I long ago lost the tag and wound the yarn into two center-pull balls). All rightey then. The yarn store where I bought it in Arizona has closed down and I think it was a regional (Arizona-made) yarn so it’s now classified as a yarn-to-be-named-later. The scarf -

Update: I officially finished 7 inches in two days. I managed two inches during a 50+ minute episode of Brotherhood, so now my projected finish date is closer to 17 days. I live in Texas! We’ll be having spring-like conditions in 17 days!!
I’m going to try to finish this -

before January 27th so if I work on my scarf during lunch and Striped (well, isn’t it?) during my evening movie watching, I may finish it in time. I’m on the fourth stripe combination and I’m thinking that I’ll need 12 in order to have a decent length. I’m using Lion Brand Homespun in Antique, Mediterranean, and Prairie. If I finish it in time, it will be a birthday present for my dad and stepmom. The only time I enjoy working with Homespun is when I’m using an N hook and a single crochet pattern. Every other time, I have issues.

1. Lacy Shell Poncho for Maddie in Paton’s Shetland Chunky Tweeds in Deep Red. I’m hoping to finish it either tonight or tomorrow night while I wrap up Rome Season 1.
2. Jiffy Striped Afghan from Crochet Today. Someone may end up getting this one for a birthday present if I can let go of it. There are two birthdays coming up in January if I get some free time available after Christmas to finish it.
3. Laura’s shrug number 2 - I’m using a great yarn on this one! I’ll try to take a picture to post sometime tonight while Christmas tree decorating.
4. Christmas ornaments from Crochet Today. Most likely intended for the girls’ teachers if I can finish them by next week. (eek!)
5. Scarf for Laura’s teacher in Patons Divine. Laura loves her so I’ve got to finish this one in time!
I think that’s all of my pre-Christmas WIP (I hope!).

1. Mystery Doily - Only five more rows to go!! I finished two rows last night while watching Redeye (but you know that already if you read the post above). That means if I can squeeze in at least one row, maybe two a night, I can have that baby on the torture needles (i.e. blocking board) by this time next week. Then I can quit looking at Julie’s gorgeous doily she sent me in shame because hers has languished in my possession for so long.
2. Little pink shrug for Laura - I think I’m making it too wide because it’s hitting right at her wrists without edging, but I’m too far into it now to change it. Plus, she’ll always be able to grow into it, right?? I’m using Lion Brand Jiffy in Girlie Pink (that’s not the real name of it but it should be. It’s probably something like Petal Pink. It’s a really light pink.)
3. Seraphina Shawl - I still haven’t made progress past the second ball of yarn. I’m going to take it with me this weekend and work on it around my mother-in-law to gauge her reaction to it. If she really really likes it, then I’ll gift it to her at Christmas. If she really likes it, but isn’t too fond of the colors, maybe I can sneak in another one before Christmas. If she really doesn’t like it, then good because it can go to her sister. lol
4. A little something for my Halloween Swap partner - hmm… I think I’m about 1/3 of the way through. It’s one of my favorite patterns so I hope she likes it. :) I’ve got everything else ready to go for the mail except for this - the most important part!
That’s about the extent of the projects that are sitting around. Oops! One more -
5. Simple Garter Stitch Washcloth - I’ve got about four rows but I’ve put off working on this one until I get my two important swap projects finished. It’s taunting me by sitting on my coffee table.

I’ve been waiting an entire week (okay, three days) to show off my favorite WIP.

I’m making this for my aunt-in-law for Christmas. It’s the Seraphina Shawl pattern from here. I’m using Patons SWS in Natural Earth. So far I’ve used two balls and I’m hoping that it won’t take more than the four balls I have to finish it. It’s lovely and soft and colorful and I want to keep it, but it’s way too hot in Houston to get the use out of it that it deserves.

I’m also working on a knit dishcloth. I’m hoping I can get a few more rows in tonight before taking a progress photo because the design is just beginning to take shape and I want to make sure I’m not making a gigantic mess before showing it off.
I found my hook to finish the mystery doily so that should be completed soon. It was underneath the passenger seat of my truck. I don’t know how, when or why it ended up there, but it’s “home” now.
What else am I working on? Oh! I’m making a simple garter stitch scarf, but the yarn I bought is a little…orange so I have an idea of making up something Halloween themed with it instead of the scarf. I’ve got an idea for pumpkin purses for the girls.
Have you heard of Book Mooch? Check it out. :)
